Joanne will take you on a journey to explore yoga as a powerful tool using asana (yoga postures) to regulate stress effects on the body, breathing techniques to calm the nervous system and mediation to clear the mind.
We will explore techniques which can be applied in everyday life for supporting a relaxed, calm outlook, and helping you manage your stress response. There will be a range of easy-to-learn methods that can help support you at work, at home, before bed, or at the start each day.
This workshop is suitable for all levels and abilities.
What is included:
Lecture: Learn the sources of physical stress and stress responses; the relationship between breath and mind; the physiology of the fight/flight response and the nervous system and the importance of vagal tone.
Breathing: Explore simple and easeful breathing techniques to alleviate stress to calm the mind and nervous system.
Practical Tools: Simple tools that can be used in everyday life to navigate stresses.
Restorative Yoga: Grounding restorative yoga to release stress, shift habits of holding tension, encourage a deep and restful state and allow energy to flow freely.
Yoga Nidra: Experience deep relaxation through this powerful mediation practice.
